Guided Foraging Walks

Guided foraging walks are a great way to get to know about the edible plants that are in our beautiful landscape. Foraging is definitly part of the "gatherer" part of hunter-gatherer, it could even extend to hunter. The walks on offer here mainly deal with wild edible plants. They are about revealing the hidden flavours and delights that each landscape and season has to offer. These walks will be geared towards finding and correctly identifying edible plants and learning about their families, my hope is that you will come away with a deeper understanding of nature and its connections.

Saturday 11 November: Explore the Edible Seashore

Foraging walk for all the family. Join me for an exploration of our lovely seashores, learn about the seaweeds that are good to eat, find out about the edible shore and dune plants, and how to safely gather and eat rock pool dwellers like periwinkles and try a few surprising seaside plants. Bring a cup along to taste some wild drinks. Please wear grippy shoes as we will be wandering over slippery rocks.

Tickets cost €20 for adults and €10 for teenagers and free for under 12’s provided they are accompanied by an adult. You can book via the PayPal button below. Please book in advance so that we can prepare appropriately.

Please note the 11 am meetup to catch low tide on the 11th of November! We are meeting on the grass behind Skerries Sailing Club.

All participants should be aware that while we will make the walks as safe as possible, these foraging walks are undertaken at the participant’s own risk. Rerooting the Future will not accept responsibility for accidents or mishaps that may occur during the walk, this includes but is not limited to slips, breakages, scrapes and allergic reactions. All edibles that you are encouraged to try are safe for most people, however, please use common sense and don’t try things you may be allergic to.
